Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince trailer

This is my book presentation trailer on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. My sister Kate, her friend Natalyha and I made this at my grandparents in Port Waikato. It is a spoof "mock" version of it! It was really fun to make, I hope you enjoy it!

The making of my (Second) book trailer!

Over the weekend, my sister, her friend Natalyha and I made a book trailer on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, at my Grandparents house in Port Waikato. It was kind of a spoof, mock version of it, because most of the characters were girls! So instead of Harry Potter, it was Harriet Potter! And instead of Ron Weasley, it was Ronnie Weasley! We filmed in different locations around Port Waikato, on the river, in the toi toi bushes, inside, outside, everywhere!We got costumes from the Drama Department at the college, but we had no idea what Dumbledore should wear, so we got a white bath robe, a long white towel for the hair, and a white face cloth for his beard! It was extremely funny! We edited it using Corel Video Studio Pro. I am very proud of the result, it looks fantastic! I will try and post the video here soon!

My Book Presentation

This is my book presentation on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I made in on Windows Movie Maker. Hopefully this promotes you to read the book! The music is Hedwig's Theme by John Williams and Requim for a dream by Clint Mansell.

Netball!

Last night we had another Netball trial to decide who would be in the top teams (Ngatea 1&2) I played GS and GA. This morning we found out what teams we are in, and I am in Ngatea 1! I am so proud of myself! Our team is really good as well, there is Charlotte, Sophie.M, Tia, Jesse, Alyssa, Coral-Lee, Helena and I! I can't wait for the season to start!

Wings sketch

I have just finished reading Wings, for my Mileage Book. It was a really cool story, and it kept me hooked the whole way through. I can't wait to read the next book in the series! I have created a sketch (Using Pimptheface.com) of the main character- Laurel. Laurel is a different girl, she only eats plain fruits and vegetables, and can hold her breath for ages. She later finds out that she is a Faerie!

My character description- Voki.

For writing, we had to write a character description on one of the characters from our literacy book- End of the Alphabet. I choose the main character's mother- Tessie. Tessie is a very stressed and tired lady. I made a voki of her, and she is saying the first paragraph of my writing! It might take a while to load, so just wait!

My sketch for Art

This is my sketch of Sir Edmund Hillary that I did for art. I have also started creating a bigger version of this, which I will cut up into four pieces, and colour each piece differently, to create a pop art effect. But I haven't finished that yet. I am proud of my sketch, and I think I did a good job on it!

Camp 2013!

 

Last week was Taupo Camp!!! It was so much fun! The big trapeze at action world, rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing and skits! Our skit was super fun! It was awesome to act crazy! The only thing I didn't enjoy very much was orienteering because it was so hot, and getting up early! I am proud of making it to the top of the first rock wall I attempted to climb, even though my arms were stiff the next day....
A funny part of camp was the skit night, of course, and also when I fell off my mountain bike into a HUGE prickle. (Well, it wasn't funny at the time, but it is now!) Here are some photos from camp:

 

 

End of the Alphabet

Our reading group (The oreos) have finished reading the End of The Alphabet, written by Fluer Beale. We all thought it was such a fantastic book! It all kept us hanging. We had fun in the process, making brazillian chocolate cakes, Brazillian cheesy scones and Alphabet biscuits. We are also thinking of making a movie trailer on the book! How fun?

Tomorrow is camp!

Tomorrow we are going to Taupo camp, I am so excited!!!! We staying at Taupo All seasons holiday park, in cabins. We head down on Tuesday the 12th of March, a looong 2 hour drive!!! We are going to AC baths, action world, Huka falls, and even go to the rapids!!! We are also doing skits. My skit group is Kennidy, Charlotte, Sophie.M, Jesse, Coral-lee and I. I hope everyone enjoys our skit, and I can't wait to see the others as well, especially the teachers and parents!!
I am all packed and ready to head of tomorrow morning, I can't wait!

Maths- I can't live without it poster

For our maths group, we had to make posters on a person, saying why they can't live without maths, in their everyday jobs. Sophie.M, Charlotte and I did ours on my dad, Rob Webster.

Food impact

I am in the Food Technology Impact group. Our task is to create a healthy food product that people can pick up and eat on-the-go. We are targeting busy people, people going to work, sports etc. I want to create a healthy drink. Sophie.M, Kennidy and I have also contacted Chelsea Winter, Masterchef NZ winner for 2012. We found her website, and sent an email to her, asking if she could maybe come down to Ngatea, or we go up to her, and she could give us some food tips! She hasn't replied yet, but I hope she does soon, it's going to be so exciting if we get to meet her!

Swimming Sports!!

Last week was our Ngatea Swimming sports, and I got 1st (for my heat) in 1 length free style, and 4th (in my heat) for 1 length backstroke, so I got into Hauraki Plains!! Yesterday was Hauraki Plains swimming. It was a long day, but I ended up coming 2nd in my heat for Freestyle 1 length  and 2nd overall for backstroke 1 length  I am so proud of myself!

Biscuits- Creator

For reading, Sophie.M and I were creator for our book- End of the Alphabet. So we made letters out of biscuits. They didn't exactly look like how we imagined them but they were still tasty!!

Weekly Reflection Week 3 Term 1

                                            This Week I enjoyed...
Reading, because we are starting our lit circle books, end of the alphabet. Sophie.M and I are creator, for our roles. We are going to make alphabet biscuits, and decorate them, then make the Y stand out. We will share the biscuits with the rest of our group! I think it's a really great idea! Plus, our book is really cool!

I am proud of.....
Finishing my movie for digital design. Kennidy, Jacob, Aydan, Robert and I were in a group. We made a movie called Star Boys, and it is about bullying. I am proud of this one scene, where Aydan (the nerd) is lying on the ground after being bullied, and there is sad music in the background, with a heart thump. It looks really cool!

Next week I am looking forward to....
Making and sharing our biscuits to our lit circle group!
I am also looking forward to starting and rehearsing our J-Rock dance for our audition. Charlotte, Sophie.M, Kennidy, Zoe Sam.M, Isaac and I are in a group.

Leadership positions

Last week on Friday, the teachers announced the leadership positions. I was lucky enough to become the Academic leader, and I am also on the Assembly Team, which is both of the positions that I wanted! I am very proud of myself for getting these responsibility, and I can't wait to start my position!

Term 1 Week 2 reflection

This week I enjoyed...

Technology. Kennidy and I are doing digital design with Mr O'Neill. We worked on continuity- filming from lots of different angles to make the film flow.  

I am proud of....

My This Is Me poem. I think mine is unique and original, and I am proud of finishing the writing in time. 

Next week I am looking forward to...

Technology again, so we can edit our little films, also working on the Impact Project more, I am doing Food Technology.

What I want to work on this year..

I want to work on my writing this year. Making it longer and descriptive, and using lots of Figurative language in it, so I can make it more exciting to read.

I hope this year I will learn heaps more, to prepare myself for Collage next year!

What I am looking forward to this year...

This year I am looking forward to....

Taupo Camp! I love camp every-year, so I can't wait to go to Taupo!!
Also, all of the year 8 privileges, like the year 8 dinner, water fight and rainbows end.
And.... I can't wait to find out the leadership positions, and hopefully I get one! 

My Summer Highlight

Our feet blistered in the scorching sand as we walked down to the water, no ran down, with our Christmas present- the Explorer 300 inflatable boat! My sister Kate and my cousin Liam were holding the front and back, and my other cousin Zara and I were holding the sides. We got to the water's edge, stripped down to our togs, and chucked the Explorer 300 into the water.

"Shotgun first!" I yelled.

"3 in the boat, Sophie!" My sister said.

"We can fit 4!" Zara called.

So we all jumped into the boat, and attempted to paddle out to sea. Yes, I said attempted. It didn't exactly work, we ended up rowing around in circles! We gave up on that idea, and ended up playing a game where one person had to stand up in the boat, and everyone else rocked it around until they fell out into the murky water!
Drenched, muddy, sandy and exhausted, we retired back home where we relaxed outside under the beautiful sunset at Port Waikato beach.
Now my cousins bags are packed, and they are ready to head off back to Australia, where we won't see them until the next Christmas...

Week 8 Weekly reflection

What a week it's been!! Tuesday was N-Rock and that was super fun! I am very proud of our class for a really good performance!
Thursday was the year 8 dinner and I was a waitress, it was really fun seeing all the girls awesome dresses, and we had to show people to their tables, hand out drinks and clear the tables, also seeing the year 8 video was really funny! It was a late night so I was very tired the next day! I have also completed my art- I will upload a photo of that soon!
Next week is the last week of school, I am actually sad about that because I have to say goodbye to the year 8's, and I have LOVED my class (the incredible minds) this year, we have had soooooooooooooooo much fun! :)
Prizegiving is next week, I'm excited about that becuase I am performing in the jazz band, school choir and suzanne prentice choir.

Whew! Well the holidays are coming up, and it's christmas time! Underneath our christmas tree is strangely empty......

Everyone kept talking backstage when we were supposed to be quiet.

Interesting- 
Seeing all the other classes N-Rock, and seeing the audience's reaction.

I enjoyed performing on stage because it was fun showing the audience what we have been working on for the past term, and it was exciting with all the lights!

I would change the start bit of the Encouragers dance when we first come onto the stage. I think we should of been more encouraging, and make the dance reflect to the words of the song.
